Some of our patients are satisfied with the bone structure, bridge, or general stance of their nose when they look in the mirror; however, only the deformities at the tip of the nose bother them. This is where Nasal Tip Aesthetics, medically known as Tipplasty, comes into play—a procedure where we shape only the cartilage and soft tissue without any intervention in the bone structure.
With the philosophy of “maximum change with a minimal touch,” Op. Dr. Bekir Can Gümüşlü helps his patients achieve the elegant nasal tip they dream of. Compared to a full-scale rhinoplasty, tipplasty is a lighter procedure with a faster recovery process and a lower risk of complications. If you do not have a nasal hump and only suffer from drooping, width, or asymmetry at the tip, this operation may be the most ideal solution for you.

The tip of the nose is the sharpest point that determines the character of the face. Even a millimetric change in this region can completely soften the facial expression or make it more attractive. With tipplasty, the following problems are permanently resolved:
Drooping Nasal Tip: Especially when smiling, the drooping of the nasal tip can make a person look older than they are. With tipplasty, the tip is lifted to its ideal angle (rotation).
Wide Nasal Tip (Bulbous): This is when the tip of the nose appears round like a ball or fleshy. Cartilages are thinned and shaped with sutures to achieve a more delicate and defined appearance.
Nasal Tip Asymmetry: Situations where the nostrils are uneven or the tip is tilted to one side are corrected.
Bifid (Split) Nasal Tip: Conditions where the cartilages are separated, making it look as if there is a pit in the middle of the tip, are corrected by joining the structures.
Nasal tip surgery can be performed under local anesthesia or sedation (light sleep state) depending on the scope of the procedure, or under general anesthesia for patient comfort. The process usually lasts between 45 minutes and 1 hour.
Op. Dr. Bekir Can Gümüşlü primarily prefers the closed technique for this operation as well. The nasal tip cartilages are reached through small incisions made inside the nose. Excess cartilage tissue is removed, and if necessary, cartilage grafts (patches) are used to provide support to the tip before shaping it with sutures.
Most importantly, the nasal bones are not touched—there is no breaking or rasping. Consequently, the possibility of bruising around the eyes is almost zero.
Compared to full rhinoplasty, the recovery process is much faster.
Bruising and Swelling: Since the bones are not intervened with, under-eye bruising does not occur. Only a slight edema forms at the tip of the nose.
Taping: Small tapes or a tiny splint are used to protect the nasal tip after surgery. These are generally removed after 5–7 days.
Return to Normal Life: Our patients can easily return to work or their social lives 3–4 days after the procedure.
Result: While it may take 3–6 months for the edema at the tip to fully subside and the final shape to emerge, the change is distinct and satisfying from the very first week.
For our patients researching nasal tip surgery prices in Istanbul, it should be noted that this operation is more accessible in terms of cost compared to a full rhinoplasty. However, an accurate diagnosis is crucial; sometimes, while patients think they only have a tip problem, an intervention in the bone structure may also be necessary. Op. Dr. Bekir Can Gümüşlü will offer the most accurate planning during your consultation.
No, by definition, tipplasty surgery only involves intervention on cartilage and soft tissue. The bones on the bridge of the nose are not touched, and no breaking or filing is performed.
Yes, if the patient’s stress level is low and the procedure is not very complicated, it can be performed under local anaesthesia. However, sedation or general anaesthesia is generally preferred for patient comfort.
No. Op. Dr. Bekir Can Gümüşlü determines the most suitable angle for facial proportions by creating a personalised plan. Although the nose may appear slightly elevated in the first few weeks after surgery due to swelling, the tip of the nose will settle into its ideal and natural position during the healing process.
Yes, surgically reshaped cartilage and stitches provide permanent results. However, natural changes in skin elasticity may occur over the years as part of the ageing process.
Yes, with a procedure called ‘alarplasty’, the nostrils can be narrowed and the openings reduced, either as part of rhinoplasty or as a standalone procedure. This procedure is frequently performed as part of tipplasty.
